Coming back from a long break we have slowly been easing back into routines.  To start the year off on a positive note, we looked at the significance of friendship and why it’s important- creating posters with examples to put up in class.  Each student also reviewed their 1st semester goal and reflected on their progress.  They also set a new goal for themselves for the 2nd semester.

Here’s a quick update on our new learning units:

*Literacy= Literature Circles, using Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl & our new class chapter book: Hachiko

*Numeracy= Big Numbers, Estimation and Computation (rounding numbers, strategies for multi-digit multiplication)

*Unit of Inquiry= Child Rights

The class investigated with dominoes to learn more about how a system responds to change.  Walking around and hearing them talking was very insightful as they made great connections to learnings about simple machines.
